The following are questions we are commonly asked, along with our responses. Of course, if you have additional questions or would like to discuss any aspect of Toronto Prep School, we'd be very happy to meet with you.
Our maximum class size is capped at 18 students (for certain classes). Typical class sizes range from 8 to 14 students depending on the course.
The application package material including the candidate’s statement, the parents’ statement, and the teacher and community referral forms are reviewed along with a personal interview with the candidate by our Director of Admissions. A committee reviews and discusses the merits of each applicant before a final decision is made.
TPS attempts to select students that fit into our culture and reflect the School’s core values and aspirations. Fit is very important for both the school and the student if we are to ensure success.
We are a semestered school with four classes in each semester. Monday to Thursday our periods are 81 minutes in length with a 40 minute lunch and on Friday our periods are 63 minutes in length with lunch being 40 minutes in length.
We have Periods 1 and 2, then lunch, then Periods 3 and 4.
The doors of the Toronto Prep School are open Monday to Thursday from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM, Friday 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, and specified Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
The school is in session Monday to Thursday from 10:00 AM to 4:10 PM and Fridays from 10:00 AM to 2:58 PM. Students arriving before 10:00 AM are encouraged to seek extra help from faculty. Extra help is offered from 9:00 AM to 9:55 AM and by appointment after 4:10 PM.
The After School Study Club is from 4:30 to 6:00 PM, Monday to Thursday. Students may be placed in the program by a faculty member, parent or voluntarily attend.
The Saturday Club Program is from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM every Saturday except long weekends and holidays. Students may be placed in the program by a faculty member, parent or voluntarily attend.
Yes, students who are enrolled in 3 or 4 classes each semester are fulltime, while students who are enrolled in 1 or 2 courses are classified as part-time. Tuition for each classification can be found in our Fees section.
Tuition for the 2021-2022 school year for full time students is $29,450 and includes the following:
• Choice of MacBook Pro laptop or iPad with specified educational software
• Access to the digital yearbook
• Deluxe school photo package
• Athletic association fees
• Extended after school and Saturday Club study programs
